AxisAndOhs feature update 1.77 has been uploaded to the shops today. It should be available in your account shortly.

Changes in AxisAndOhs version 1.77

Major change 1: This version changes the naming and sorting convention for assigned button items. This will happen automatically the first time that you run AAO. Before doing this, the app creates a special backup file with your previous database in C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\LORBY_SI\LorbyAxisAndOhs

Major change 2: When using MIDI devices, the AAO app did not distinguish between Note and CC messages correctly. This lead to duplicate controller actions when in reality there were none on the hardware. This has been fixed, but it will be required to check and reassign especially rotary encoders again. 

- Change: option to duplicate button assignments.
- Change: Added MSFS events for managed/selected speed, altitude, heading and VS.
- Change: Saitek Switchpanel now only processes button events for those buttons that have actually changed
- Change: Option to run automates scripts on a global level (=for every aircraft). This will be more convenient when using Elgato StreamDeck or MIDI Out
- Change: Add and Change button dialog now have tool tipps on the textboxes that can contain long strings
- Change: When assigning a template you have the choice now if it should overwrite the current aircraft config or merge with it. With the latter you can now create partial templates, for example with your MIDI or StreamDeck assignments, that you can merge into any other config without overwriting what is already there.

- Bugfix: MIDI "Toggle" type button events fixed for Behringer X-Touch
- Bugfix: The MFD instrument did not calculate the waypoint positions correctly (magnetic heading instead of true)

Elgato StreamDeck
On axisandohs.weebly.com/downloads you will find a sample implementation of an Elgato StreamDeck PlugIn that uses the AAO WebAPI to communicate with the simulator.
This plugin technology is bidirectional (=data can be read from the simulator too, not only sent to it), this makes it possible to use the StreamDeck for annunciations.

I just stumbled upon another case of non-published sim events. There are events to switch between managed and selected AP modes, but they are not in the SDK documentation.

K:ALTITUDE_SLOT_INDEX_SET

In the current version of AxisAndOhs you have to create two RPN scripts for each of those. For exampe for the speed mode:

1. “Managed Speed Mode” with the code "2·(>K:SPEED_SLOT_INDEX_SET)"
2. “Selected Speed Mode” with the code "1·(>K:SPEED_SLOT_INDEX_SET)"

Assign these scripts to buttons as desired.
I will add these events to the native list in the next version of AAO.

version 1.76 now sports an API based on simple web technology (XMLHttpRequests and JSONP). It supports button events, triggering of simulator event IDs, reading and writing of simulator variables.

This can be used for example in HTML/Javascript based flight instruments or in plugins for the Elgato StreamDecks, to access the simulator directly.

• Added the Event-IDs of the PMDG SDK (737 NGX, 777, 747 QOTS2)
• Expanded the RPN scripting logic to facilitate the use of the PMDG events, added new PMDG chapter at the end of the manual.
• Added logic to run RPN scripts automatically for each individual aircraft
• Fixed bug where the calling of scripts inside other scripts would fail
• The Event Group of scripts can now be changed by the user
• Template Export and Import logic to facilitate the exchange of complex setups between users. Import is guided.
• Added option to isolate a joystick device if axis are not picked up (Saitek Trim Wheel)
• Fixed bug where the "Change Button" dialog would show the wrong event in case of a duplicate ID

the AAO version 1.73 has been deployed to the shops.

- Redesigned the layout of the assignment dialogs to make it clearer which input field is currently active

- Fixed bug where the axis would move slightly in the opposite direction when using curve and deadzone together

- Fixed the bug where the flaps detents box was partially obscured

- Fixed the instances where a split axis must be handled as a slider when applying a curve (MSFS: toe brakes, throttle, propeller, mixture)

- Keyboard and MIDI combos can be used with axis too

- Expanded RPN scripting and gauge logic

Development progresses with AxisAndOhs.

The next version 1.73 will have more features for the Desktop/Web FIP gauges that make it possible to have a simple PFD and NAV display on your phone/tablet or on a separate monitor. Those instruments are intended to be used with MSFS, they may not work 100% in the other sims. The gauges will be available as free downloads on the axisandohs.weebly.com site.

In my case, I bought a 13" TFT screen that is connected to the internal Intel GPU, which frees up my 2080ti to only power the sim. Likewise, since the instruments are a feature of AAO, I can set my cockpit view to show only the windows (and reduce the in-sim refresh rate). Undocking sim-internal windows usually has a large impact on FPS, and by avoiding this I find performance to be very good. YMMV.

The version is feature complete and is undergoing testing currently. The release should happen next week.

AxisAndOhs has been updated to version 1.72:

• Changed the layout of the main dialog, uncluttered the Tools menu.
• For assigned axis it is now possible to set a min / max value. With this you can limit the value range, for example to make the reversers of the Asobo Airbus less powerful (min = -0.2 instead of -1.0)
• The list of mathematic operation that can be used in RPN scripting and gauges has been expanded to include all legacy ops
• Fixed the bug that prevented the Saitek Radio Panel from changing KHz correctly when in 8.333 spacing (MSFS only)
• Added a parameter for the webserver port with the WebFIPs. This can be used to change the port number if you already have other apps in your local LAN/WiFi that are using 8080 (video surveillance, media streaming)

It should be available in your accout on SimMarket or JustFlight in the next few hours.

Don't forget to visit the AxisAndOhs site from time to time to check for new desktop/web flight instruments in the DOWNLOADS section.

AxisAndOhs has been updated to version 1.71

This version now has RPN scripting. You can create your own scripts to trigger more complex functionality with a single button press. These scripts are using a simplified version of the legacy RPN syntax from FSX, which is well documented online. You shouldn't have any trouble finding examples and guidance. 

Example: pressing the HDG button in the cockpit of the MSFS TBM would normally set your current heading as the selected heading of the autopilot. But there is no simulator event for this in the SimConnect API, so it is not accessible from outside of the sim.
This script, that you can assign to a joystick, MIDI or keyboard key in AAO, does the trick:
(A:PLANE HEADING DEGREES GYRO, Degrees) (>K:HEADING_BUG_SET)
This script and two others (for CRS1 and CRS2) are already included in AxisAndOhs to get you started.

Added: custom gauges for the Desktop and Web instruments. These are available for everyone now. You can display those gauges on your desktop or access them with a web browser from any device on your local LAN or WiFi (like your phone or tablet)
