Lorby Scratchpad (Freeware) 1.00 b01 (c) 2018 LORBY-SI

This application creates a message window in P3D V4 that can be edited from within the simulator or on the app window.
It also offers an editor to create or change the checklist and reference kneeboard files for an aircraft. That way you can add
pictures and more complex text to your simulator environment.

PLEASE NOTE: when you want to use the Kneeboard Editor, you must run the Lorby Scratchpad app "As Administrator"!

Prerequisite:
To run the Lorby Scratchpad it is required that you have Microsoft .Net 4.6.1 installed on your computer:

Installation:
Execute the installer "LorbyScratchpad_Install.exe".
The app will be added to your start menu under "Lorby-SI"

Using the app:

1. The app connects to the simulator automatically, so please make sure that the simulator is started first and that you are sitting in your cockpit

2. Doubleclick the app icon to start it.

3. Select the desired length of the message window with the control at the bottom

4. Editing text:

4.1 You can enter/edit text directly on the app main window. You can copy&paste text from other applications into it too.
    The app will display this text in the simulator immediately as a SimConnect Message window

4.2 Alternatively, you can toggle the Edit Mode from within the simulator by 
    - pressing "Shift + Ctrl + l + e" at the same time
	- pressing "Enter" twice in quick succession
    While the edit mode is active, the Lorby Scratchpad will play a "ping" sound every two seconds
	Now you can enter text and numbers from within the sim - they will always be appended below the existing text
   - a-Z, A-Z
   - 0-9 number keys above your keyboard or numpad (mind Num Lock!)
   - Comma, Period, Slash, Plus, Minus (please be aware that these keys relate to the american keyboard layout!)
   - Press "Enter" for a new line
   - Press "Backspace" to delete characters

   - Use "Shift + Ctrl + NumPad 8" and "Shift + Ctrl + NumPad 2" to move the cursor up and down if the contents of the window are longer than the preset number of lines

   Press "Shift + Ctrl + l + e" / doubletap "Enter" again to end the editor mode

5. From within the simulator, pressing "Shift + Ctrl + l + o" opens the scratchpad, and "Shift + Ctrl + l + c" closes it

6. Editing the Kneeboard:

You can create or edit the HTML files for the checklist and reference kneeboard entries. 
The HTML editor that is being used is based on a Project on MSDN (https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/WinForms-HTML-Editor-01dbce1a)

Click on the "Kneeboard Editor" button. After having selected the desired file, you can use the HTML editor to add content to the files. This includes pictures from your local computer,
for example charts in JPG format. The editor itself offers all basic controls for text and HTML formatting.

Press the "Save to Kneeboard" button to save your changes.
(If the file has been created for this aircraft by the Lorby Scratchpad, then your aircraft.cfg will be expanded accordingly, and 
 your aircraft will now be reloaded in the sim automatically.)

To see your changes in the sim, close the kneeboard if it was open, and open it again.

Starting Lorby Scratchpad automatically with your simulator:

- Lorby Scratchpad installs a disabled controller file that allows you to start the scratchpad app with your simulator automatically
- To activate it, look for this file:
  "\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\Lorby-SI LorbyScratchpad\add-on.xml.off"
- Rename this file to 
  "\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\Lorby-SI LorbyScratchpad\add-on.xml"
- Next time that you start the simulator, you will be asked to activate the Lorby Scratchpad app.
